The Community Foundations Services Corporation's purpose is to support the philanthropic efforts of community foundations, specifically to facilitate connecting the field to financial institutions. The CFSC was established in December 2002 with the active support of the Council on Foundations and an authorization of Special Projects funding from its Community Foundation Leadership Team. In April 2003, the Merrill Lynch Community Charitable Fund (MLCCF) program was launched. The mission is to support Merrill Lynch private clients, through their financial advisors, in the creation, management and operation of donor advised funds in conjunction with community foundations throughout the United States. The MLCCF program ultimately marries the charitable interests of thousands of high net worth individuals with the community expertise and grantmaking resources of hundreds of local community foundations.
